Crimea in Focus: Media and Resilience

The project aims to raise awareness among the Ukrainian population about the state of the Ukrainian community in Crimea since 1991 and to increase the sustainability of the Voice of Crimea information agency.

As part of the initiative, the Crimea Center:

  • prepares and disseminates analytical, news and multimedia content aimed at raising the awareness of the Ukrainian audience about the state of the Ukrainian community in Crimea since 1991
  • involves experts from the Crimean Platform expert network and public figures in the creation of analytical materials, which allows for in-depth, professional and multidimensional analysis
  • works to strengthen the resilience of the Voice of Crimea media in the face of energy challenges by updating the technical base and ensuring the continuity of the team’s work
  • provides the team with the necessary equipment for stable work, content production and support for safe communication with journalists, including those who are in the temporarily occupied territory

 
The project is implemented with the support of the public organization “Institute of Mass Information”.

Focus Crimea: Supporting Independent Journalism in Occupied Crimea

The project aims to create a platform for independent journalists covering issues and events in Crimea to anonymously publish their materials using the platforms of the Voice of Crimea news agency.

As part of the initiative, the Crimea Center:

  • creates and disseminates journalistic materials aimed at overcoming the information isolation of Crimea and documenting human rights violations on the temporarily occupied peninsula
  • collaborates with a network of independent journalists covering events in Crimea, providing them with a safe and anonymous platform for publishing materials
  • develops thorough analytical materials in cooperation with experts, in particular representatives of the Crimean Platform expert network
  • works to increase the visibility of the topic of human rights in Crimea through the systematic distribution of content on digital platforms

 
The project is implemented with the support of the public organization “Center for Information about human rights.”

Crimea Under Scrutiny

The project aims to investigate and document human rights violations and highlight the general humanitarian situation in temporarily occupied Crimea.

As part of the initiative, the Crimea Center:

  • carries out systematic and comprehensive information collection in order to ensure unbiased and accurate coverage of events, in particular by conducting independent investigations of individual cases of Russian crimes on the temporarily occupied peninsula
  • prepares and publishes analytical materials on the Voice of Crimea website based on the results of journalistic investigations
  • creates and distributes articles of various formats that highlight the revealed facts and the context of violations, contributing to a better understanding of the situation among the Ukrainian audience
  • works on promoting the prepared materials through social networks, expanding their reach and increasing the visibility of the topic

Informational Reintegration of Crimea

The project aims to inform residents of temporarily occupied Crimea and mainland Ukraine about the situation on the peninsula, promote the informational reintegration of Crimea by disseminating reliable information in the Ukrainian language, expose Russian propaganda, and support democratic values ​​and national identity.

As part of the initiative, the Crimea Center:

  • creates and systematically distributes news content for social networks (Facebook, Telegram) aimed at raising audience awareness of the situation in occupied Crimea and maintaining contact with the information space of the peninsula
  • prepares and publishes analytical materials on the website of the Voice of Crimea news agency, strengthening the organization’s expert voice on issues of de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea
  • works to improve the visibility of the site in search engines through SEO optimization, which contributes to expanding access to Ukrainian content about Crimea
  • develops a video direction, creating content for the Voice of Crimea YouTube channel with the participation of experts and presenters, in order to convey the Ukrainian narrative to residents Crimea

 
The project is being implemented within the framework of the “Ukraine: Relief, Resistance, Recovery” program with the support of the German Marshall Fund of the United States of America.

Enhancing the Institutional Capacity of the Crimea Center for Business and Cultural Cooperation "Ukrainian House"

The project aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Crimea Center through improving internal work processes and updating the brand for a clearer and more recognizable public positioning.

As part of the Crimea Center initiative:

  • held a strategic team session during which the mission, vision, and key areas of the organization’s activities were rethought, which laid the foundation for further brand renewal
  • introduced artificial intelligence tools to optimize internal workflows and increase team efficiency
  • developed and launched a new website as the main platform for public communication and presentation of the organization’s activities
  • created an updated branding and logo that reflect the organization’s values ​​and ensure its more holistic and recognizable positioning
  • organized a series of training sessions for the team on the use of AI tools, including some practical blocks for designers and copywriters, as well as general training for the entire team
  • strengthened the technical capacity of the organization by purchasing modern equipment (including Apple laptops) for working with video editing, graphics, AI tools, SMM and creating text content

 
By the end of the project, it is also planned to develop a comprehensive communication strategy for the organization, which will allow it to systematically strengthen its presence in the public space.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the Phoenix: Power of Communities project, which is implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation with financial support from the European Union.

Technical and Resource Strengthening of the Crimea Center

The Crimea Center has repeatedly received journalism scholarships and grants from the Hirondelle Foundation.

Among other things, the team implemented the following initiatives:

  • journalistic scholarships: the editorial office received financial support to ensure continuous work and development of our media activity (05.05.2025-31.08.2025; 26.09.2025-31.12.2025)
  • receiving financial assistance for the purchase of technical equipment: the Crimea Center received financial support to provide the editorial office with the necessary equipment and furniture: uninterruptible power supplies, Apple laptops and mice, extension cords, power banks, as well as work furniture – a table and bedside tables, and for video production – studio light and a tripod. This allowed us to optimize the team’s work, increase the efficiency of content preparation, ensure continuity of work during technical or energy outages, and create comfortable conditions for the production of high-quality media materials (05.11.2025-31.12.2025)
